Updates to Self-service Options on Red Cross Learning Center
Exciting news! We’ve enabled improvements to the self-service options on
the Red Cross Learning Center for Instructors and Account Admins/Partners:

   - Users will be able to edit/update their contact information (i.e.,
   email address and phone number) directly in the portal. They will still
   need to contact customer service to make a name change.
   - Account Administrators will now be able to unaffiliate their
   organization’s Instructors directly in the portal. They will also be able
   to remove their organization’s admins. The technology to affiliate and/or
   add Instructors and Administrators is forthcoming and we will let you know
   when it is available.
   - A step-by-step form will allow Instructors to more easily provide the
   correct credentials/prerequisite documentation to qualify after enrolling
   in a bridge. This should enable Instructors to access bridging content
   faster.
   - Instructor recertifications that need completion will be clearly
   highlighted on the Instructor portal, providing clarity to Instructors so
   they can easily see which recertification has expired or is about to expire.

A notification will be posted on the Red Cross Learning Center when the
updates are available.

Instructor of the Month: Ruth Davidson-Gordon
This month we recognize Ruth Davidson-Gordon, who trained Nigme
Negron-Pieretti in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED. Nigme saw one of
her students choking during lunch and rushed over to perform lifesaving
back blows and abdominal thrusts. Afterwards, Nigme spoke with Ruth and
thanked her for the training, which enabled her to know what to do when
critical minutes mattered. We also extend our thanks to Ruth for providing
the quality training that allow Nigme to save a life.

Lifeguard Virtual Reality (VR) Enters Beta Testing
Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department in Texas was recently selected
to participate in beta testing for the American Red Cross’s new Lifeguard
VR training tool. The virtual reality experience

allows the user to gain experience in conducting zone surveillance and
recognizing drowning. This new round of testing will provide valuable
feedback to assist with further development of the product. Stay tuned for

Red Cross Membership in ILCOR
The International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), the leading
forum for liaison between principal resuscitation organizations worldwide,
officially welcomed the International Federation of Red Cross and Red
Crescent Societies (IFRC) this month as a collaborating member. The
American Red Cross, in cooperation with IFRC, will place seven members of
its Scientific Advisory Council in strategic committees and task forces. A
