Well, in this case Henry, he is wanting to read real floppy disks to create
disk images from. There are software and other special disk encodings that
require special tools to backup correctly which would be out of the scope
of using a real floppy controller and the CoCoSDC together.

If the disks are standard 35 track 18 sector disks then you could pair a
real floppy controller and the CoCoSDC together to create disk images that
way, but if you have a 35/40/80 track disk that has a mix of 128 byte, 256
byte, 512 byte, 1K byte sectors, and/or hidden data in the track structure
itself then a normal backup command will not work in this case.

That is why people have had to use tools like the Cat Weasle, Kryoflux, and
now Greaseweazle to make backups of their floppy disks for archiving
purposes.

The Cat Weasle hasn't been made in many many years now, the Kryoflux is
expensive, and the Greaseweazle is by far the cheapest option for creating
a flux image of a floppy disk.
