[Coco] GIME

Someone internally must have been calling it that and it was communicated
to magazines of the time. The September 1986 issue of Rainbow had an
article by Steve Bjork talking about how the CoCo 3 was a programmers
dream. In that article, he referred to the chip as the GIME. Because you're
right, even the repair manual refers to it by a different name.
