I think you will find setting colors much easier if you study the Tandy Color Computer 3 Service manual
which ought to be on line in the http://www.colorcomputerarchive.com/
Look at pages 10-13 and 20-21 to see how to set modes. Study the top of page 17 to see how bits
in the palette bytes $FFB0-$FFBF adjust colors.

Setting RGB colors is intuitive. For CMP colors, you will need to see how the colors are arraigned
around a circle with intensities varying as you go from the center to the edge.
