Hmmm that is interesting.  Must be a custom launcher you are using there.

HDBDOS itself comes in multiple forms.  The current repo has .ROM and .BIN
and the .BIN's you can just do a
LOADM"HDBDOS":EXEC
and it will load off of disk and then execute the loader that is pre-built
into the distribution binaries.

Always interesting to see alternative loading mechanisms.
