Nicely done, Mike. It’s very reminiscent of the VIC-20 sounds (no ADSR), and using the volume to produce decay. In my VIC-20 days, I created many programs just doing sound effects.

When I get one of these, I expect I’ll dig out my old VIC-20 code and port it ;-)

It was good to hear just tones. I may be the only one who doesn’t care for “chip tunes.” There has always been a certain feel to music from the C64 SID days, and then, later, the type of music the NES/Genesis/etc. did. But outside of chip tunes, those sounds just don’t show up in mainstream music (though I bet theirs some genre like techno, dubsmash, etc. that involves this type of music).

I was working on a BASIC port of my Arduino C code that drives the same chip. BASIC wasn’t as rock solid on the timing, but not terrible. I look forward to hearing what folks come up with once these are out in the wild.
