[Coco] Drivewire4

Tried it.

4.3.4e starts but does nothing after that. Comes with an instance using
TCP/IP and won't let me run the config editor so I can't change it to a
serial line to try connecting from a real COCO. Also won't let me create
another instance.

Drivewire 3 worked flawlessly but that was on Windows and I no longer
have any supported versions of Windows so that leaves me trying to get
a Linux version running.

Bill, just copy the sh file from 4.3.3o to 4.3.4e. The difference in the versions is in the jar files. all others are the same. I must have missed that file somehow. Easy for me to do since I use windows and the sh file is for Linux.

4.3.3o has a script with that name. 4.3.4e does not.
I made a script with your startup command and tried it with both.
Same result. 4.3.3o crashes immediately. 4.3.4e starts up but won't
let me do any configuration, like using the serial port instead of a
TCP connection.

Looks like I may have to just go back to Drivewire3. 😞
Still leaves the question can NitrOS9 be built on a real
COCO using the tools available as part of the OS or is it
required to build it on a PC?

I guess my purism is showing, but if I am going to build the
OS on a PC and run an emulator of the COCO on a PC why
would I not just use a PC OS on the PC? :-)

Bill,

There is a bash script with a .sh file extension in the directory where you
unzipped the DriveWire4 archive. I have edited mine to have the java line
look like this:
java -server -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC
-XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:ParallelGCThreads=7 -XX:+AggressiveOpts
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla -Xmx128M -Xms128M
-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -jar DW4UI.jar --backup

If you want a headless version I also for that use this:
java -server -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC
-XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:ParallelGCThreads=7 -XX:+AggressiveOpts
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla -Xmx128M -Xms128M
-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -jar DW4UI.jar --backup --noui

If you do a headless option I would recommend using "screen" and starting
up a new virtual terminal and starting the DriveWire 4 server in that and
then detaching from that virtual screen.
