There is a similar effort to bring the Sinclair ZX Spectrum (called ZX Spectrum Next) to life. Boards compatible with the original Spectrum that also support some additional capabilities are already been made, and even the longtime designer of everything Sinclair industrial designer created a case for it. They crowdfunded it via Kickstart.

If you want to take a look, or get some ideas, their web site is https://www.specnext.com/

Oswaldo

Subject: [Coco] COCO CASE GROUP

Hi all,

As I read an article on Facebook, having the C64 based on FPGA back in production.

We can do partly the same for the coco's, not to make a new coco 5 but to make a general new housing.

Maybe we should think about a new case design, one that can harbor the old existing board's coco 1/2/3 and also the coco FPGA either Becker's or the Coco-on-a-chip ( sorry do not know exactly the designer) even if possible maybe both. ( meaning old board with FPGA design )

In the later case I think it would be a good idea to have a universal outside terminal board, which looks the same on the outside, but has inside connection to the respective board inside. A smaller secondary smaller panel ( different connectors ) for the terminals of the FPGA, so both can function on there own.

Maybe the ones that feel called to make a design should make some sketches and when we have the most practical, we can fundraising the means of have it produced. I think that most of us would like to spend $70...$100 to a new case.

Well just something to talk about, and if you feel like to put your $0.02 worth of comments, then do this on the group COCO CASE , I made for discussion.
