Yes.  The 6309 is pin for pin compatible with the 6809, and only acts 
differently with special coding.

As near as I can tell, NitrOS9 for the CoCo 1 & 2 does not take much 
advantage of it.  And there is very little Color Basic, Extended Color 
Basic or Disk Extended Color Basic software that takes advantage of it 
either.
