[Coco] FOD on CoCo3FPGA

Stephen, the music will most likely be different on the Coco3FPGA. I've found that with any "software timed" music on theCoco3FPGA will be "slightly" faster and "slightly" higher in pitch. This is due to the Coco3FPGA being "slightly" faster (as in instruction cycles), the music will vary.
I have had the Coco3FPGA beside a real Coco3 and VCC, all 3 running Orchestra90. VCC is slightly faster than the Coco3 (a very little bit), and the Coco3FPGA is slightly faster than VCC.
I even made a special set of Orch90 music disks for the Coco3FPGA & Orch90 just for this reason.

Thanks very much for your thoughts, Bill. Much appreciated. I have been using my CoCo 3 with my SDC, and I didn’t think about the change over to Drivewire.I am still curious about the music, though. In the main sequence of the FOD music, the fourth (and eighth) note does not seem to be as low as they are on the real physical CoCo. That was a surprise to me. Anyone else out there playing this game on both machines?smp- - -Stephen PereiraBedford, NH 03110KB1SXE> On Dec 15, 2017, at 3:42 PM, Bill Pierce via Coco <coco at maltedmedia.com> wrote:> > Stephen, one problem could be since you're using DriveWire, entering the Inn may have a disk load, which may be much slower on DW than a real disk or CocoSDC. It plays a little bit differently there. The main music pieces are a little bit off, and there are short lags, like when you enter an inn. On the CoCo 3, the graphics and music associated with the inns come up instantly, and on the CoCo2FPGA there is a 1-2 second lag, just enough so that you get nervous that something’s gone wrong.Has anyone else tried this? Can anyone else offer their experience between a CoCo 3 and a CoCo3FPGA?Thanks.smp- - -Stephen PereiraBedford, NH 03110KB1SXE-- Coco mailing listCoco at maltedmedia.comhttps://pairlist5.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/coco> > -- > Coco mailing list> Coco at maltedmedia.com> https://pairlist5.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/coco-- Coco mailing listCoco at maltedmedia.comhttps://pairlist5.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/coco
