Then it must be the sound command i'm confusing it with

I'm pretty sure one of the two use the 1bit sound source

I can guarantee you that the Color BASIC's PLAY command uses the 6 bit DAC.

For those unfamiliar with the Color Computer's sound hardware:

There are 4 sound sources.
  1. Casette audio
  2. 6 bit DAC
  3. Analog pin on the cartridge port.
  4. 1 bit DAC

Sources 1 thru 3 are switched on or off by an internal electronic
switch called the MUX.

Source 4 is always connect and separate from the other three.

It's most famous use is the heart beat in Dungeons of Daggeroth.
