Hi Tormod,
first, thanks for taking this in hand. In my opinion the MediaWiki approach
is the best solution for 2 reasons:
1/ the sourceforge option has no facility to create a page render suitable
for printing (when I wanted to print the debug manual, I ended up grabbing
the rendered page from my browser, pasting it into an editor and fixing it
up there). Conversely, the MediaWiki can do this.
2/ the sourceforge option currently has formatting errors introduced by the
transfer, as others have noted. Moving forward with the sourceforge option
would require this stuff to be fixed up.
>> it shows there was almost no wiki work done since the migration in 2014.
As a "normal" sourceforge user, I get "Error 403 Edit Access Required" when
I attempt to edit the wiki, This does dissuade casual contributions;
especially as there is no obvious way on the site to contact anyone and ask
for edit permission.
Low-hanging fruit for enhancing the WIKI content:
- list all of the documents that are in the repository, and provide links
to built versions (like the PDF that Tormod recently announced)
- a set of HOWtos culled from Q&A in various Coco threads over the last
year or so
I have a bunch of comments marked up on aforementioned debug manual, and
I'd be happy to revise the wiki with these changes once you decide which
way to go (and give me permissions)
regards,
Neal.
