Jim, a vhd file is pretty much 'raw'. I'm not sure of any (if any) differences as I've never worked with CF cards. I just know the VHD file is a straight sector by sector image of the disk contents. I don't think there's even a header of any sort.

There is a program to work with CF cars, but I don't know how useful it will be for you..

This is supposed to copy CF images to/from the card.
