My $0.02....

2Q^2 is not the same as 4Q

4Q = 4 x Q

2Q^2 = 2Q x 2Q

If Q would be 2 then   4Q = 4 x 2 = 8
                                2Q^2 = (2 x 2) x (2 x 2) = 4 x 4 = 16

2Q + 2Q                             = 4Q

Or am I seeing this wrong???

The correct answer, of course, said with some degree of vehemence, is "4Q"
Say it out loud. It'll hit in a few seconds...
Uncle Bill did so love his math giggles.

Today's average American math student would say "2Q^2?"
