You should be able to as long as there is I/O space available.  Remember this is a 6 chip 6809 computer, which means things are not fully decoded.  For example the MC68B50 ACIA is minimally decoded which means it takes up $A000-$BFFF.  If you have not read Grant Searle's web page on this project, please do so.  This design has restrictions.  Please be sure you understand them.  :)
