I suspect that more than 50% of the price was for the RAM expansion. 1MB was a humongous amount or RAM at that time, not to mention the necessary interface electronics to make it usable with the CoCo.

Art, I never saw a review of the ColorBurst (I didn't have all isseues either),
but if it didn't exist, they at least did a good mockup of the case for the ad
photo (not a drawing).
And the Tandy MPI was already out at the time, so pricing
probably was an issue with most people who saw the
ad.
