I have no idea how to do that.

Sixxie (I think it was) in the IRC suggested doing something like:

b < 0 then b=b+65536

…when assigning to the REAL, but I have yet to try that. I ended up reading the first three bytes of an OS-9 disk to get number of sectors, since ultimately that is what I wanted, but I was writing the code to be more portable and used for another phase of the project.
