[Coco] Finally got an FD-500 disk system!

Yep, Tandy’s first double sided was the final one — FD-502. But they didn’t advertise it as such, I seem to recall. Maybe they just couldn’t get single sided drives by then ;-)

What’s odd, which I had hoped the CoCo book would have explained, was that when I worked for the Shack, they discontinued the CoCo disk drives. The CoCo was still active, and after some time (not sure how many months), the drives returned as normal items, same models.

Our district manager said they were going to sell the drive controller and power supply separately, and you’d buy the external Tandy 1000 HX/SX drives, which would have been cool — we could have had an official 720K 3.5” drive from Radio Shack… I always wondered what happened to those plans, if true. If not true, I wonder why the drive was discontinued.
