Hi Al,
You are correct!  This design uses the MC68B09P chip as does Grant Searle's 6 Chip 6809 Computer that the Kipper SBC v1 is based on.  Fortunately the HD63C09P chip is also compatible so we have two options for microprocessors that can be used for this project.  :)
