Are you using the Nintendo RF adapter cable that has a grey square box
attached to it?

If so that is not going to work good with the CoCo. That adapter has an
elishctronic switch that passes the RF from the antenna/cable whes the NES
is unpowered, once the NES is on the switch automatically reroutes the NES
output to the TV.

You need a straight cable with an RCA plug on one end and an F male
connector on the other; you could get by with an RCA to RCA cable and use
an RCA to F adapter on the end that will connect to the TV antenna/cable
input.
