Tony, I know you're talking of setting the BBS up on the Coco (or emu), but as a note, I run SuperComm on the Coco (or emu) and log intotelnet BBSs quite often. Drvewire emulates al the modem cmds so no chags are needed on the Coco side unde Nitros9. Just type "supecomm /N", know BBS port numbers , and you're in.
It shouldn't be much different for an OS9 BBS on drivewire. Someone had one running a while back. I thought of doing it myself but I would have to set it up on a different computer from this one as I use this computer to run Vcc for Coco software developement and I crash it about 20 times a day :-)
I have the spare computers, just haven't took the time to do it. Using Vcc as the server, it could be overclocked to be a little faster, though the serial transfer would still be a bottleneck.
Doing this, I could put my archive online with a real Coco BBS and you could use SuperComm to download software to the Coco just like the old days.

Is the procedure for getting that working on the coco wiki with the DW stuff?
I'd like to get, for example, OS9L2BBS or one of the OS9 BBS's from
bbsdocumantary.com site running.
Thought it'd be nifty to be able to relive the glory days at a moment's
notice...

Although its not quite the same, you can do this with an emulator +
DriveWire, and you don't even need the serial server thingy. Up to 14
concurrent telnet sessions to an OS9 system (if you can start that many
shells). I think the nightly NitrOS9 disks have everything set up and
ready to go, just start inetd and telnet to port 6809 of your machine.
I keep meaning to add serial pass through so you can just use the regular
serial port for serial stuff, just haven't gotten around to it. In the
specific case you mention though, that would actually work worse than what
we do have.
