I would like to point out that as a dot on an ink jet printer is either
on or off for each ink color. A dumb printer is more likely to only use
3 or 4 bits per dot rather than 24 or 32. Still at 600 dpi, this would
be 10-12 MB per page but that is a whole lot less than 75-100 MB per page.

As for Postscript printers without built-in fonts. There is no such
thing. Now if there are encapsulated postscript printers (which I have
never heard of) they wouldn't have to have built in fonts.

When your CoCo was new how much were you willing to pay for a usable
printer? Convert that to today's dollars and you can get a printer that
is not as dumb as a rock, is modern and has built in fonts that you can
use with your modern computer too.

The big problem I see driving modern printers with a CoCo is that serial
and parallel printers are getting hard to come by. Driving a USB
printer from a CoCo even if it directly supported the same printer
language as you were used to using seems the far larger issue to me.
