the rubber ones dont have a massive core like that.

the ball of steel still is oversized.

Interesting observation. I wonder if the "deluxe" may have originally
been referring to the Deluxe CoCo?

There were 2 joysticks. The dual pair free floating black joystick
with a red button and the later single white one with 2 button and
self centering. This was the deluxe joystick.

Same with the mice, black with a red button and the deluxe white one
with 2 buttons.

Actually, I think all mice have a steel ball. It's just that most are
rubber coated... a mouse condom I guess.

But protection from what?
