Microsoft invented HTML? LMAO!!!
I don't think that's correct. MS has been trying abolish html since day one in favor of their own systems.
BTW... their current effort to thwart html is "Silverlight", a piece of junk software to bog down your browser.
If I remember correctly, html as we know it, was made usable (not invented by) by Netscape and a few others. Originally started by Tim Burners-Lee in 1989 (before MS knew what a web browser was) for inner-office communication and file sharing. That part is documented here :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML
I don't think you'll find Microsoft's name anywhere in the Wiki.

Somewhere along the line, software companies started using it for web browsing (ie. Netscape & others), forming a coalition and further developing enhancements.
A notable contributor to the current state of html is 70s rock star/producer Todd Rundgren. He has spent a lot of years developing things for the internet and computers in general since the 80s and is a major mover/shaker in the internet world. Occasionally taking a break and writing an album for Meatloaf as well as performing, producing and engineering all Meatloaf's projects.

That makes sense since it was invented by Microsoft ;)
