I think I found your answer to where the "syscall" subroutine for Basic09 came from for OS-9 Level 1.
Try Checking out Dale Puckett's "Kissable OS-9" in the November 1984 issue of Rainbow page 280. The actual listing for "syscall" is on page 284.
