Basically you are correct. The GIME chip was a custom chip made by tandy. They discontinued the part years ago so when it goes... Ebay "for parts" it should go!

So if I hear this conversation correctly, Gime chips are irreplaceable and if one goes on one of our beloved coco 3’s we essentially have a nice paper weight?Now I’m concerned I have an infamous “86” chip in one of mine.
