Curtis.... you just solved a problem I was having in a program I'm writing.
I had turned the stdin stdout buffers off to work on a problem I was having with printing text in C and never bothered to turn them back on.
Later I started having strange problems and have spent almost 2 months trying to figure out what was wrong. I just turned the buffers back on and the problem went away

Don't forget to try buffering your characters so that you can do a larger (and 
less often) I$Write calls... it will make a big difference. :)
