Aaron, the explanation above makes perfect sense, and needs to be in the 
link you referenced above, but it doesn't work for me.

Here is what I have:
6809 telnet protect banner,login,

Then, from my startup file:

after redoing that line because proc doesn't show it running,

What is this Error #10# ?

That particular runb is the everything merged version, should it be the 
bare version?
