...and for a matter of clarification. I didn't say anything about the 800x600x32 mode. That was someone else.

I have actually been experimenting with a 6 bit 640x480 scheme using a 64 byte palette. I've already got the drivers written and working. I was originally inquiring about the RAM/Video interface methods with respect to a standard or common method. This skewed into the "co processor" idea which I actually think might be plausible. but, not without it's challenges. It's an interesting concept.
