Correct and I was well aware of that. The 1793 could do 500Kbits per second rates which the 
1773 could not. There was a version of the 1772 called the WD1772PH02 that could support 
500Kbits per second data rates and thus 1.44 Mbyte floppies. 

The WD279X series also support 500Kbits per second data rates.
