KEEPING IT GREEN: THE 21ST ANNUAL “LAST” CHICAGO CoCoFEST!
The 21st Annual “Last” Chicago CoCoFEST! will be held on Saturday, May
19, 2012 from 10 AM - 5 PM and Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 10 AM - 3 PM at
the Holiday Inn Hotel
and Suites Elgin, 495 Airport Road (1 block north of I-90 and IL 31),
Elgin, IL. Tickets are $15 (which covers admission for both days).
Spouses and children age 13 and older
are $10 each. Children 12 and younger are free. Parking is also free.
For two decades the Glenside Color Computer Club of Illinois has
sponsored the CoCoFEST!, a social event for those interested in starting
or renewing friendships among those
interested in the Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer (nicknamed the
CoCo) sold between 1980-1991 and manufactured using a popular Motorola
microprocessor.
More than 50 people attend the CoCoFEST! each year. About half have been
coming from around the world since the CoCoFEST! began in 1993.
The CoCoFEST! helps keep these classic computers and accessories out of
landfills by encouraging the repurposing and recycling of vintage
hardware and software, as well as
showcasing the development of new hardware and software products for the
CoCo. The Glenside Color Computer Club meets on the second Thursday of
every month at
7:00 PM at the Schaumburg Township District Library in Schaumburg, IL.
