Yeah, I deleted all my "welcome everyone" accounts and only have accounts
for those I know (regular users, people I run into on forums, and mailing
lists-like this one)

I would think FileZilla should be plenty secure, they update
frequently.  Probably just some script kiddies.
But I would definitely set any public accounts to read-only.
