I'd be quite interested in getting my grubby little hands on the
ansifront source.

It does do at least some checks.  It will complain quite bitterly if you
use a function (like fopen()) that returns a non-integer without giving
it a proper definition (FILE *fopen()).  

I've mainly used ansifront on K&R code that I was trying to port to OS-9
that managed to step in some of the Microware bugs.  I have no idea if
it's smart enough to typecheck function arguments if given proper
prototypes.
