The wikipedia response I just got says it never heard of him. The page is
100% 404 & asks if I want to create it.

Boisy, I can recall it being discussed on this list, maybe 2 years ago, and
I wasn't the originator at that time, but I did go check out the funeral
homes obit that I got from a google search, and it sure read like the
William Barden we all knew. Since he was a Jr., perhaps it was his father?
I don't have any data on that. And I am very sorry to find I was repeating
a rumor. That is one I won't repeat again that's for sure.
That he is alive and well, it is to me no small cause for giving thanks.
His books on assembly language programming for both the 6809 and the Z-80
taught me a lot. We won't mention the mistakes that may have been like a
cartographers map, if he saw them repeated, pretty solid evidence of
copyright infringement.
