Lately, I've bought a few items from this list thanks to folks advertising their surplus here, so I thought perhaps I could offer this CoCo 3 here. I was going to eBay it like my son does when he sells something, but I really do not like eBay.

I figure what I will do is accept offers (sort of like bids) until Sunday afternoon with the best offer winning. I just need to raise a little cash (I overextended myself getting my Son's shop set up and all... but it's worth it) and I thought I would part with this CoCo 3 that I've been experimenting with (It's in perfect working order - I haven't killed it.)

Basically, this is what we have here:
A CoCo 3 that has the pass transistor replaced with an ECG377 (rated at 8 AMPS), the 28.63636Mhz Socketed, and an odd-ball 512K SIMM upgrade that I got out of one of my sons "junk boxes."

I have placed pictures here:
The 512K upgrade installed, shown here:

The replaced transistor shown here:

The socketed crystal shown here:

Of course, the buyer (if there is one) will receive the unit assembled obviously. I will also include an extra 32Mhz Crystal that can be plugged into the socket for your experimenting pleasure. Plugging in the 32Mhz crystal in place of the 28.63636Mhz crystal will cause the CoCo 3 to run at a true 1Mhz/2Mhz instead of .89/1.78Mhz, however, the CM-8-type monitors won't be able to sync the video at this frequency - I have been able to get the Roy Justus VGA converter to sync to the signal rather easily though.
As for the 512K SIMM upgrade - when I found it in one of my sons "junk boxes" I wasn't even sure it was a CoCo 3 memory board, but the connectors looked right, so I installed two SIMMs in it, plugged it in and it worked - so I ran the Performance Peripherals 512K RAM Test and watched some TV Shows on Hulu while it ran - after the 48th successful pass, I was pretty sure it was working right :)

I will also include a ROM Cartridge containing an EPROM programmed with the code of your choice. So, you'll be getting a 512K CoCo 3 with a custom ROM cartridge (no monitor or anything else included - just the CoCo 3 and ROM cartridge.)

This is an NTSC CoCo 3.

I will ship this anywhere in the world, but please be aware that exact shipping charges will be charged in addition to the offer price and tracked shipping will be used so shipping may be expensive outside the USA. Being that I'm really strapped for cash at the moment, payment would need to be by PayPal, Western Union or MoneyGram.

Thanks for your consideration. If there are no takers, then I'll list it on the eBay Sunday Night.

It <expression deleted> being broke :)

Offers may be made offlist to my sons gimechip.com email address. Please respond directly to John's email address for this to keep from cluttering the list.

I'll notify the "winner" (if any) Sunday afternoon.

Thanks Guys - you're all great.

Also, don't go haywire on the offers - I'm obviously going to accept the highest offer, but check out cloud9tech before making an offer on this - you can get a great CoCo 3 for a set price straight from Mark without having to do any "bidding". I don't really know Mark except from this list, but I have bought stuff from him in the past, and am so stoked with the quality, I try to "plug" for cloud-9 any chance I get :)

thanks again, JohnT
