We have some 11x17 paper that my wife uses for spreadsheets, but we never called it "A3".  It's "that real big paper hanging over the top shelf".

Hah! Try foolscap! When the Australian version of  The Rainbow first came 
out, it was (re-) printed on foolscap paper. I have a large number of these 
in my collection, and I know of NO scanners that will do foolscap. I guess 
that a scanner of the A3 size will do it, but they don't seem to be 
available to the personal computer market.
