[Coco] Fedora Core 6 on a M305CRV Gateway laptop

Check the power socket, if the plug has a lot of play, it's broken.
Official fix is to replace motherboard.  Unofficial is to get a new
socket.  I've seen the sockets on ebay.  A broken power socket on a
Toshiba is a common problem.
