We've been getting software/hardware solutions crossed! When I mention something like SB64 being cheaper/easier to support, I'm talking strictly from an emulator point of view. In fact, 90% of my comments are slanted in that direction. I'm not against an FPGA board, I see a need for it, but it's not as likely to happen as an enhanced emulator. If the FPGA board does come to fruition it will be great, but not sure how affordable it will be, and if you don't get one on the first run, you may be SOL (like the one-chip MSX). 

I do, however, now see your point. It would be easy for the emulaotr to use an SB64, but not an FPGA machine. It won't be bad for the emulator to support sound the FPGA isn't capable of, but it would be nice to have software that will run on both. In that resepct, what's used on one needs to be available on the other. As you pointed out, there is current emulator support for the Orch-99 and S/S, so no reason not to include them. 

Yes, a spec would be nice. I might find the time to generate a basic overall spec, then post it for comment.
