I'm gonna agree with everyone and say Ubuntu for an average computer
user looking to migrate... I've had issues with Kubuntu in the past,
but had no problems installing KDE on top of the standard Ubuntu
distro. If I'm using a GUI, I tend to prefer KDE. Couldn't tell you
why, though.

For the record, I've been a Slackware guy since version 0.96. It's
still my preferred distro if I'm administering the box. But it's not
for the uninitiated...
