My favorite for the last 20 years has been some version of a regulated 
iron GC was selling under the XYTronix name.  But they are about $130 the 
last time I bought one.  Great iron, just dial up the temp you want and 
give it 30 seconds to get there.  If you see a weller, please move to the 
other side of the street, cooper tools bought them 20 years ago and 
they've been crap ever since.  OTOH, I have a weller WTCP-1 thats over 40 
years old & still works fine.  Looks pretty rough though, its had a LOT 
of use.
