[Coco] What are some good starting points for a CoCo noob (me)?

It may be a bit basic (no pun intended) but, assuming you have zero
knowledge of the CoCo coming in, I'd recommend finding a copy of
"Getting Started with Extended Color Basic," as it's one of the books
which came with many a CoCo. Since I'm assuming that's where many of
us started, it certainly couldn't hurt to start there. After that,
there's also the "Unraveled" series. From there, you should have a
pretty good idea where you want to go and will have more informed
questions, the answers to which will help guide you.
