I think one of the biggest hurdles to overcome to maintain compatibility 
with the 6809 version, will be big-endian-ness.

As well as that, the NitrOS9 source is primarily written in 6809 assembler. 
If it had been in C as the OS9/68000 version was, it might have been 
different.
