Is this what your looking for?

$ ./messg4 -listdevices coco3
 SYSTEM DEVICE NAME (brief) IMAGE FILE EXTENSIONS SUPPORTED
----------  --------------------  ------------------------------------
coco3        printer     (prin)     .prn
             cassette    (cass)     .wav  .cas
             floppydisk0 (flop0)    .dsk  .os9  .vdk  .dmk
             floppydisk1 (flop1)
             floppydisk2 (flop2)
             floppydisk3 (flop3)
             cartridge   (cart)     .ccc  .rom
             snapshot    (dump)     .pak
             harddisk    (hard)     .vhd

Add a hyphen to the brief device name to specify it on the command line.
Like this:

$./messg4 coco3 -flop0 disk.dsk
