Frank Hogg got into a bit of hot water promoting Flex over OS-9 way back when! He never intended to say that Flex was overall better than OS-9, as there was some things Flex couldn't do. What he had intneded all along was that Flex was a better OS than OS-9 for the CoCo due to the original 32K limitation. Even when people figured out how to access 64K he continued to say Flex was better for the CoCo. The reason was that while OS-9 was multi-user/tasking capable, you couldn't do a whole lot in 64K. Two users and two different tasks would tax the system, depending on what those tasks were. Flex didn't require as much memory. Once the CoCo3 came out with up to 512K Flex was essentially done for -- OS-9 had enough memory for its power to outshine Flex. I interviewed Frank Hogg for the book I wrote years ago and he still remembered all that!
