[Coco] [Color Computer] Donkey Kong

Considering that game design can be the most complicated programming you can do, combining aspects of databases, graphic design, 3d modelling, every kind of math imagineable, etc..., I don't know what took them so long. Many colleges now offer it, and the industry is one of the most lucrative out there. I don't understand your attitude about it. Our educational institutions hit bottom decades ago, when any idiot with enough cash could get a degree while some truly gifted people without that "resource" can be found delivering pizzas for a living, or worse. Anyone who can design and create a good game can write just about any software you'd need. The reverse is not so much the case.

So UC Santa Cruz offers a major in game design. Robert A. Heinlein was right. Colleges (especially those run by governments, but private schools aren't immune) nowadays really are hitting bottom. (Heinlein's article about that was published about the time Donkey Kong first hit the arcades, UCSC was his model and where his literary archives are kept).
