The FT232 converts RS232 to USB. The FT245B/R will interface to a MCU via a 
parallel I/O port. There is a difference between the two FTDI parts.

The FT245 and a PIC16F877A and you  have a potential for a USB addaptor that 
can be placed on the Coco Expansion buss and memory mapped.
