[Coco] How do you hook up a CoCo 3 to an Amiga 1080 Monitorusingthe Analog RGB Port?

Bob,

Thanks for your offer to help.

I originally just hooked up my CoCo 3 (from a 10 pin dual in line
connector) to the Amiga RGB port (DB9 connector) with the following
connections:

CoCo 3 RGB Connector	Signal	Amiga Monitor Connector
1 Ground	1
3 Red 3
4 Green 4
5 Blue 5
8 HSYNC 8
9 VSYNC 9

Nothing happens in the analog or digital RGB modes in this
configuration.

Then, I discovered that in the RGB Analog mode, the 1080 required a
composite sync (according to the documentation I found on the Internet -
I could be wrong)

CoCo 3 RGB Connector	Signal	Amiga Monitor Connector
1 Ground	1
3 Red 3
4 Green 4
5 Blue 5
8 HSYNC --+
9 VSYNC --|-- 7 - CSYNC

Note that I took pins 8 and 9 from the CoCo 3 and connected those to a
composite sync circuit. Here is the link for a schematic:

http://www.tkk.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuits/vga2rgbs.html

I built the TTL level sync signal. I made a stand alone box with a 5V
supply using a 9 volt battery, an on/off switch and a status LED.

All I get with my circuit is an image that is on a diagonal. Of course,
the composite video input of the 1080 works great.

Any help would be appreciated. What I really need is a good schematic
and/or description of the Amiga 1080 monitor inputs.

And, oh by the way, if I do get this thing to work, I will share my
schematic, if you are interested.

Thanks

Bert

Bert,

Please describe the trouble you're having in more detail.

I *know* I hooked up my coco3 to a Commodore 1084 monitor with very
little
problem, but I forget details right now. Of course, the 1080 may be
different, but I don't have a schematic. Maybe Gene can throw some light
on
this?
