most emulators use files that are dsk images of the entire floppy disk
(including the "special" tracks. david kiel's emulator does this very
well. i only know of a few programs that will not run on his emulator
(and he is working on that). the way i copy disks to the emulator is to
use my own program "backup magic". it creates 40 files (on two disks)
that are disk images of each track. then when i run the program
(actually another program in the same package) on the emulator, it
creates a dsk image with the original copy protection intact. (making
backup copies of virtual disks is easy--from dos or windows, just copy
the file.)
