But if you really want to get a feel for how a computer works
go back to the 8080 / Z80 TRS80's and program machine
language in OCTAL...
The operands of an instruction line up with the 2/3/3 bit pattern
of OCTAL and it is very easy to learn to speak machine language
to it....Then move on to assembler...
