Thanks for the correction, Alex.  Not only can I not count, but I  also didn't clearly communicate that the TC^3 doesn't take up a SCSI ID, so you can connect eight devices to it. (I only have three on mine so far).

SCSI allows eight seven if you don't count the controller, and there  
are SCSI to IDE adapters if you are worried about getting SCSI drives.
